Desmond Ling, a CSLMCH volunteer and befriender, began his journey in June 2021, answering God's call to serve. Desmond supports the children by engaging in recreational and educational activities, forming meaningful bonds that help them through difficult moments.

For Desmond, volunteering is more than a duty—it's a calling. "My role as a Befriender is simple: to love them, to be there for them, and to be a pillar of support for the children," he shares.

Desmond initially found it challenging to connect with more reserved children, but over time, he learned that simply spending time with them, doing what they enjoy, could create meaningful bonds. "I remember a child who wasn't very talkative, but he loved playing sports. We connected through that, and it showed me the importance of being present and letting them know you care."

One memorable moment for Desmond was when he gave a gift to a child, and the child’s response moved him deeply: “I don’t want to throw away anything you give me.”

Desmond’s commitment and kindness continue to impact the lives of the children at CSLMCH. He reflects, “Even if I only make a difference in one child’s life, that’s enough for me.”
